Santa’s Grotto at Hillmount
Fire Engine gets Santa to Hillmount Grotto in time for opening!
Children willfrom far and wide on Saturday 26th Nov @ 2pm to get their first glimpse of Santa at Hillmount, Upper Braniel Road, Gilnahirk, Belfast, which officially opens on Saturday 26th November, when Santa arrives by Fire Engine with sirens blaring and lights flashing.
“The Hillmount Santa’s Grotto this year will be raising money for; The Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice and the Belfast Operatic, Company”, explains Robin Mercer, owner of the garden centre who has with the help of his staff team create a most magical Santa’s grotto for children and their families to visit Santa up to the 23rd December.
Robin adds “Last year the grotto raised £16,000 for the two charities involved and I am hoping that this year they will raise even more for their good work..”
“This year as a new attraction we are delighted to offer three ‘Breakfast with Santa’ mornings in the run up to Christmas. These are proving very popular as children and their families will get to have a proper cooked breakfast with Santa and to hear some of Santa’s tales and to sing some favourite Christmas songs with him before going on a tour of the grotto and receiving that all important present from Santa “.
Joanna Pawson commenting on behalf of the Children’s Hospice said “Over the past year the Children’s Hospice has cared for more than 250 families from all across Northern Ireland with a life-limited child, both in the Children’s Hospice and in the child’s own home. All our services are provided free of charge to families and since government funding is limited, the Children’s Hospice must continue to rely on the generosity of the general public to help raise our annual running costs of £2 million. The grotto plays a very important part in helping to raise the funds we need for the Children’s Hospice. We are very grateful to Robin and his staff at Hillmount for supporting us again this year”
The grotto which is manned by volunteers from Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice and Belfast Operatic Company will be open from Saturday 26th November 2011 to 23rd December 2011.
